Behind Your Back

“But you promised” I shout.

I refuse to be placed in the trolley’s front and paraded around Asda.

“I didn’t promise you anything, now stop it.”

I get the look. So I stop it and sit quietly.

The supermarket is filled with things for me……….and things for mum.

This seat…this is too small for my chubby legs.

I can’t stop squirming.

Mum turns with a packet and says

“You like mushrooms don’t you?”

I stop squirming………….

Did she say mushrooms? I think she did. Did she say mushrooms?

“Actually we don’t need them now.” She says.

Oh….Phew!!!!

And we go on with our journey.

Occasionally.

When she doesn’t look….

In the go the skittles, in go the penguins.

Quick as a cat.

A great success, she doesn’t notice.

Until…It’s time to pay.

“And what is this little treat?” she says, holding up the bags.

Caught, red handed. With no escape.

But…with a rye smile.

They are paid for and bagged.

Yes!!!!!
